F.A.Q.

My child is 2 and a half, they seem ready for pre-school. Will you take them early?

Unfortunately, Ofsted make no allowances  for a child's individual development. We are only registered to take in children age 2yrs 9months and can not make any allowances for the individual child.

Do you take children who are still in nappies?

Yes we do. Children all toilet train at different rates. There is no point in putting pressure on them and you to achieve this by a certain deadline. We ask that you leave a named bag with a spare nappy and wipes in the cloakroom. We would much prefer your child to be in nappies or pull ups than have accidents in the pre-school. Once you feel the time is right to toilet train, we can help by reminding your child to go to the toilet and helping with their clothes.

When will I know if my child has got a place?

If your child will be 2years 9months between July and December, they will start the pre-school in September. I will contact you in May or June to confirm your child's place. The exact date will depend on when the schools give out their nursery places, so parents have a choice to stay at Pre-school or accept their nursery place. If your child becomes 2years 9months between January and June, I will write to offer you a place around October half term for the same reasons as above.

When should I put my child's name on the waiting list?

As soon as possible, but certainly before they are 2 as we have long waiting lists. There is no charge to put your name on the waiting list.

How do I put my child's name on the waiting list?

I recommend that you phone me  on Watford 350206 to make an appointment to come and have a look around and get a feel of the Pre-school, because although we are all registered for the same kind of care we all go about it in a different way. If you are unable to come and look round the Pre-school, you can phone me on the above number or e-mail me for a form on karenannetopham@hotmail.com . We do not charge for putting your child's name on the waiting list.

I am on benefits do I have to pay for my child's place?

If you are on benefits you may be entitled to have your child's fees paid by the county council for three sessions a week. I have leaflets about this do contact me if you would like one.

My chid is three do I have to pay fees?

Fees are paid for all children from the term after their third birthday. The cut off dates are 31st December, 31st March and 31st August. When your child is old enough to qualify you have to provide proof of their date of birth (birth certificate or passport) and sign a form which I will provide you with.
