St.Thomas' Preschool Playgroup
Equal Opportunities Policy.
St.Thomas' Pre-school Playgroup is committed to providing equal opportunities for all children and families. Our belief is that no child or its' family should be excluded from the Pre-schools’ activities on the basis of gender, sexuality, class, family status, means, disability, colour, ethnic origin, culture religion or belief.
We aim to ensure that all who wish to work in, or assist voluntarily in the Pre-school have a chance to do so .
The policy means that:
The Pre-school is open to every family in the community.
All staff will be given a copy of the equal opportunities policy, and all families will be made aware of it’s existance.
Job applicants will be judged on the basis of the best person for the job. A commitment to implementing the groups' equal opportunities policy will form part of the job description for all staff.
All children and staff will be respected and their individuality and potential recognised, valued and nurtured.
We aim to give the children a balanced view of the world and appreciation of the richness which can be gained from multi-cultural society.
We recognise the wide range of special needs some children will have, and will take these into account in all areas of our work.
Bilingual/multilingual children and adults are an asset, and will be encouraged at the Pre School.
All and any discriminatory behaviour, remarks and insinuations are unacceptable in the Pre-school. Our response will aim to be sensitive to the feelings of the victims and to enable those responsible to understand and overcome their prejudices.
In any extreme situation the perpetrator, rather than the victim, would be excluded from the group.
