St.Thomas' Pre-school Playgroup
Aims
“We believe children learn through play in an environment where they feel happy, relaxed and safe.”
We aim to----
-- provide a happy, relaxed and safe environment in which pre-school children learn to socialise as part of a group away from parents or carers.
-- foster self esteem, confidence and independence in all the children.
-- provide structured and free play activities which allow children to learn about themselves and their world.
-- give all children a love of learning, through exciting and varied medium leading to a desire to learn more.
-- help prepare children for their experiences at nursery and school by providing an environment in which some structured and organised activities take place.
-- encourage children to listen to, and communicate with adults, other than their parents, and other children.
-- involve parents in the Pre-School by keeping them informed, by contacts each day and by encouraging them to help at sessions during each term (via a voluntary rota).
-- provide an environment which reflects the statements made in St.Thomas' equal opportunities policy.
Also in each session, to provide the opportunity for group and individual activities, which will assist the children's development socially, emotionally, physically, creatively and intellectually at an individual and appropriate level.
